BALTIMORE, MD, February 20, 2025 – A groundbreaking new study published in the INFORMS journal Decision Analysis unveils a powerful new tool to tackle the opioid crisis, offering a pathway to slash costs by nearly 30% while saving lives.
On Jan. 21, OpenAI launched the $500 billion Stargate Project with partners like Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Oracle. This initiative aimed to secure American AI leadership, create jobs, and boost the economy. Initially, this boosted the stock prices of these companies.

A deadline from the Trump Administration was halted last week, and is now in the hands of a judge. A new study in Management Science led by INFORMS member Natarajan Balasubramanian, a professor at Syracuse University, found that when managers implement strict deadlines, their workers tend to complete their tasks at the last minute, which often leads to lower quality outcomes.
According to PayScale's 2016-2017 College Salary Report, operations research ranks as the master's degree with the third highest salary potential, coming in behind only computer science and engineering, and nurse anesthesia.
