INFORMS, the leading international association for operations research and analytics professionals, announced it has awarded Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District and Tetra Tech its 2019 Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Advanced Analytics, Operations Research, and Management Science for its use of operations research (O.R.) to maximize all aspects of its wastewater collection and treatment facilities to better protect the environment and realize hundreds of millions in savings.

The limited resources available for correctional health services guarantees that many incarcerated individuals with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) will not have access to the newer drug treatments that have revolutionized HCV care. A study in the INFORMS journal Operations Research suggests that the method many prison systems have used to decide who will get HCV treatment and who won't does not represent the most effective use of limited treatment capacity.
